What this tool does

This tool makes a QR code that opens your PayPal.Me page so people can pay you with a scan. Enter your PayPal.Me username, optionally set an amount, and download a PNG or SVG for invoices, cards, and stalls. No typing your payment link, just point and scan.

How to use it

  1. Enter your PayPal.Me username (the part after paypal.me/).
  2. Optionally set an amount, then set the size, colours, and error correction level.
  3. Choose PNG or SVG, create the code, and download it.

How it works

The tool builds your PayPal.Me link from your username, adds the amount if you set one, and encodes it into the QR pattern in your browser. When someone scans it, PayPal opens to your page, where they pay from their own account. It is a static code that works on its own, with nothing uploaded.

The amount, and the fees

Two things are worth understanding so there are no surprises. First, the amount is a suggestion, not a lock. If you set one, PayPal.Me shows it ready to go, but the payer can still change it before paying, which is exactly what you want for tips or donations and worth keeping in mind for fixed prices. Leave the amount blank and the payer simply enters their own.

Second, the fees. When someone pays for goods or services, PayPal charges the receiver a fee, so the amount that lands in your account is a little less than what was paid. The "friends and family" option avoids that fee, but it is meant for genuine personal transfers, not sales, and it does not come with buyer or seller protection, so it is not the right choice for business payments. The payer usually picks which type at checkout. It is your money and your call, but it is only fair to know how the fees work before you print the code. The payer always logs in and confirms, so nothing is taken without their say-so. For other methods, the Payment QR Code Generator works with any payment link, and the Bank Account QR Code Generator shares bank details.

Questions people ask

Can I set a fixed amount?

You can set a suggested amount, but PayPal.Me lets the payer change it before paying. That suits tips and donations well; for fixed prices, know that the figure is editable.

Are there fees?

Goods and services payments incur a PayPal fee charged to the receiver, so you get slightly less than paid. Friends and family avoids the fee but is for personal transfers, not sales, and lacks protection.

Does it pull money automatically?

No. It opens your PayPal.Me page, and the payer logs in and confirms the payment themselves. Nothing happens without their action.

Is anything uploaded?

No. The code is generated entirely in your browser, so your details stay on your device.
