What this tool does

This tool makes a QR code that opens a new email to you when scanned. You can pre-fill the subject and message too, so the person just adds a line and sends. Set the size and colours, and download a PNG or SVG. It is the one-scan way to let people get in touch by email.

How to use it

  1. Enter the email address the messages should go to.
  2. Optionally add a subject and message to pre-fill, then set the size and colours.
  3. Choose PNG or SVG, create the code, and download it.

How it works

The tool encodes a standard email link, your address plus any subject and message you set, into the QR pattern, right in your browser. When someone scans it, their phone opens its email app with a new message already addressed to you and filled in with whatever you pre-set. The code is static and works on its own, with nothing uploaded.

What it is good for

This shines anywhere you want to invite an email without making people type your address: a business card, a support desk, a flyer or sign reading "Questions? Scan to email us," or the contact section of a poster. Pre-filling the subject is a quietly useful trick, set it to something like "Enquiry from the spring flyer" and the messages arrive neatly labelled, so you can tell at a glance where each one came from.

One honest point about what it does and does not do. The code opens a ready-to-send email; it does not send anything by itself. The person still reads it over and taps send from their own email app, using whichever account they have set up on their phone. So it removes the tedious part, finding and typing your address, while leaving them in control of actually sending. For other ways to reach you, the Phone and SMS generators set up a call or a text, and the vCard QR Code Generator shares your whole contact card at once.

Questions people ask

Does it send the email automatically?

No. It opens a new, pre-addressed email in the person's email app, and they tap send themselves. It saves the typing, but the sending stays in their hands.

Can I pre-fill the subject and message?

Yes. Both are optional, and setting them, especially the subject, helps you recognise and sort the emails that come in from the code.

Which email app does it use?

Whichever one the person has set up on their phone. The code opens their default email app with your address filled in.

Is anything uploaded?

No. The code is generated entirely in your browser, so your details stay on your device.
