What this tool does

This tool makes a QR code that opens your Instagram profile when scanned. One scan and the person lands on your page, ready to follow, no searching your handle or typing it in. Paste your profile link, set the size and colours, and download a PNG or SVG to print or share.

How to use it

  1. Paste your Instagram profile link, such as instagram.com/yourhandle.
  2. Set the size and colours if you want.
  3. Choose PNG or SVG, create the code, and download it.

How it works

The tool encodes your profile link straight into the QR pattern, in your browser, so the code points directly to your page. It is a static code that works on its own, the same dependable approach explained in more detail on the URL QR Code Generator page. Instagram has its own in-app code too, but that generally needs the other person to scan from inside the app, whereas a standard QR like this opens your profile for anyone with any phone camera.

Using it to grow your following

Instagram is where a lot of brands and creators want eyes, and the gap is usually the physical world: someone likes your product, your shop, or your stall, but never quite gets around to finding you online. A QR code closes that gap. Put it where people already are, on product packaging and tags, a shop window or counter card, an event stand or market stall, a flyer, or the back of a business card, and following you becomes a single scan rather than a "what was that name again?" later.

A couple of honest pointers. Because the code holds your profile link, if you change your handle, the code will stop working, since the old link no longer leads anywhere, so make the code once your username is settled. And the code opens your profile; the person still taps follow, so it is worth pairing with a reason to, an offer, a hashtag, or simply a great feed. For a broader promotional push, the Marketing QR Code Generator is built for campaigns, and to link a different platform there is the LinkedIn generator.

Questions people ask

What happens when someone scans it?

Their phone opens your Instagram profile, in the app if they have it or in a browser otherwise, where they can follow you. The code takes them there; the follow is their choice.

What if I change my username?

The code would stop working, because it holds your current profile link and the old one would no longer lead anywhere. Create the code once your handle is settled.

Do people need the Instagram app to scan it?

No. Any phone camera or scanner opens the link. If they have the app, it opens there; if not, it opens in their browser.

Is my link uploaded?

No. The code is generated entirely in your browser, so nothing is sent to a server.
