What this does

So you have a weight in grams and you need it in ounces, perhaps to follow an American recipe or read a label. This converter does it instantly. Type in the grams, press Calculate, and you have the ounces. There is no ingredient to pick, because both units measure weight, which keeps things simple.

How the conversion works

Grams and ounces both measure weight, so it is one fixed multiplication with no density involved. One gram is about 0.035274 ounces, which is just one divided by 28.3495:

ounces = grams × 0.035274

So 100 grams is about 3.53 ounces, and 453.6 grams comes to 16 ounces, which is exactly one pound. The same factor every time.

Good to know

This is the avoirdupois ounce, the everyday one used for food, postage, and groceries. The troy ounce, used only for precious metals like gold and silver, is heavier at about 31.1 grams, so this is not the tool for bullion.

And the usual reminder: a weight ounce is not a fluid ounce. A fluid ounce measures volume, so it has no place in a grams to ounces conversion unless you happen to be weighing water.
