What this tool does
This tool packs several files into a single ZIP archive. Select the files you want, of any type, and it bundles them into one .zip you can download. The whole thing runs in your browser, so your files are never uploaded.
How to use it
- Select the files you want to include. You can pick several at once, and they can be any mix of types.
- Press Create Zip.
- Download the
.zipfile. Reset clears the tool for another bundle.
How it works
The tool takes each file you selected, packs them all into a single ZIP archive, and compresses them in the process, then hands you one .zip to download. A ZIP is simply a container that holds many files inside one, which is why it is the standard way to send a group of files as a unit. It all happens on your device, with nothing sent to a server.
Why bundle files into a ZIP
Putting files into a ZIP solves a few everyday headaches at once. The big one is sending: plenty of forms, email fields, and upload boxes accept only a single file, or cap how many you can attach, and zipping turns a dozen files into one tidy attachment that sails through. It also keeps related files together, so a folder's worth of work arrives as a single, clearly-named package rather than scattered pieces, and the compression shrinks everything a little, which helps when you are uploading over a slow connection or watching a size limit. Because the bundling happens in your browser, you can zip up even sensitive files without them leaving your machine. To open a ZIP back up, the Zip Extractor does the reverse, and to join text files specifically into one document there is the Text Files Merger.
Questions people ask
What file types can I include?
Any of them. A ZIP can hold any kind of file, and you can mix documents, images, code, and anything else in the same archive.
Does it compress the files?
Yes. Packing the files into the ZIP also compresses them, which makes the bundle a little smaller and quicker to send.
Why zip files instead of sending them separately?
Many upload boxes and email fields accept only one file or limit the number, so a ZIP turns many files into one attachment. It also keeps related files together and shrinks them a touch.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The ZIP is created entirely in your browser, so your files stay on your device.
