What this tool does

This tool turns Markdown into a polished PDF. Type or paste your Markdown, watch it render into a formatted preview, and download the result as a PDF. It all happens in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.

How to use it

  1. Type or paste your Markdown into the box.
  2. Press Convert. The formatted version appears as a preview so you can see how it looks.
  3. Download the PDF. Reset clears the box to start again.

How it works

The tool takes your Markdown and renders it into formatted HTML, which is the preview you see on screen, then converts that formatted page into an A4 PDF for you to download. Doing it in two visible steps means what you see in the preview is what lands in the PDF. It runs entirely on your device.

A quick look at Markdown

If Markdown is new to you, it is a simple way to format text using ordinary characters, so you can write quickly in plain text and still get headings, bold, lists, and links. For example, this Markdown:

# My Title

Some **bold** text, and a list:

- First item
- Second item

becomes a large heading, a line with the word "bold" in bold, and a proper bulleted list in the finished PDF. The appeal is that you never lift your hands from the keyboard to format, which is why so many writers and developers draft in it.

What renders well

The everyday Markdown you are likely to use all converts cleanly: headings, bold and italic, bulleted and numbered lists, links, blockquotes, and inline code. That covers most documents, notes, and readme-style pages comfortably. Where to keep expectations measured is the heavy stuff, very long documents, intricate layouts, or large images, which a straightforward Markdown-to-PDF step handles less gracefully than a full publishing tool would. For typical writing, though, it produces a clean, shareable PDF in seconds. To go the other way, Word to Markdown turns a document into Markdown, and Text to Docs builds a Word file from plain text.

Questions people ask

What is Markdown?

A lightweight way to format text with plain characters, like # for a heading or ** for bold. It lets you write quickly and still produce formatted output, which is why writers and developers favour it.

What formatting will appear in the PDF?

The common elements all carry over: headings, bold and italic, lists, links, blockquotes, and inline code. The preview shows you exactly how it will look before you download.

Does it handle images and complex layouts?

It handles straightforward content best. Very long documents, intricate layouts, or large images may not render as cleanly as in a dedicated publishing tool, so it suits everyday documents most.

Is anything uploaded?

No. The rendering and PDF creation happen entirely in your browser, so your text stays on your device.
