What this tool does

This is a routine handover when a screen colour becomes a physical product, because the colour you set in a picker has to be tied to a specific, named ink before it can be reproduced to a known standard.

How it works

What Pantone actually is
Pantone is a standardised colour system for printing, built around the idea of a shared reference that everyone can match to. The second, and the larger, is that a screen cannot truly reproduce a Pantone ink, because the range includes colours, such as metallics and fluorescents, that no display can show.
So treat the result as a firm opening reference, not a settled choice.
