Random Fruit Generator
Pick a fruit to try next, or build a tasting list. Generate random fruits in seconds and copy the results for shopping, smoothies, or snacks.
Random Fruit
Your fruit bowl has the same three things in it that it has had for years: apples, bananas, maybe some grapes. Meanwhile there are hundreds of fruits out there, most of which you have never once put in your basket. Not because you decided against them, but because your hand goes to the usual on autopilot.
This tool nudges you out of that. Press Generate and it hands you a fruit, from everyday ones to the likes of cherimoya, cloudberry, or blood orange. Building a list for the week? Ask for a few and copy them.
What the generator gives you
Nice and simple. We keep a hand-checked list of fruits, and Generate pulls one out at random. Press again for another.
Almost nothing to it. Set the number you want, press Generate, and Copy saves the list for the shop. If you already have a type in mind, the filters below aim it.
Some results will be everyday, some you may never have tried. The unfamiliar ones are the best reason to use it.
Why eating a range of colours is worth it
There is a decent reason to mix up your fruit beyond just boredom. The colours are not only for show. Different coloured fruits carry different beneficial plant compounds, the pigments that make a blueberry blue and a mango orange come with their own useful properties, so eating across a range of colours gives you a wider spread than living on one or two.
Left to habit, most of us stick to a narrow band. A random pick quietly widens it, dragging you toward colours and fruits you would otherwise skip. You do not need to count anything or overthink it. Just let it push you past the same old bowl now and then.
Trying fruit you have never had
The list runs well past the supermarket staples, so a fair few results will be fruits you have only ever seen in passing. That is the point. When one comes up that you do not know, treat it as a nudge to pick it up next time you are out and finally find out what it tastes like.
One tip: buy a single piece of a new fruit rather than a whole bag. If it turns out not to be for you, you have lost very little, and if you love it, you know for next time.
When it helps
- Break the same-fruit habit. Get pushed past the apples and bananas.
- Eat a wider range. An easy way to bring more variety into the bowl.
- Shopping lists. Generate a few and take the list to the shop or market.
- Smoothies and snacks. A prompt for what to blend or grab.
- Getting kids to try new things. Let a child pick and read out a fruit to hunt for.
Narrowing the results
A surprise draw is the best way to break out of buying the same three fruits. When you do have a lean, three filters focus it:
- Starts with. Choose the first letter.
- Contains. Insist on a word in the name, like "berry" for the whole berry family or "melon" for the big juicy ones.
- Ends with. Choose the last letter.
Tighten it until nothing is left and the tool says so rather than showing a blank, so you loosen a filter and have another go.
Questions people ask
Is it free?
Yes. It runs in the browser, needs no signup, and there is no limit on generating.
Why are some of these fruits ones I have never heard of?
Because the list runs deep, past the everyday names into more unusual fruits. Those are the ones worth chasing down.
Can I generate a few at once?
Set the number and you get that many different fruits in one draw, ready to copy to a shopping list.
Is it good for eating more variety?
Yes. Because it keeps landing on fruits outside your usual few, it naturally widens the range of what you eat.
Where does the list come from?
It is a hand-checked list of fruits that we keep adding to over time.

So the next time you are filling the fruit bowl on autopilot, give it a tap and add one thing you would not usually buy. That is how the bowl gets interesting again.
