What this tool does
You have a colour and you want its complement, the colour directly across the wheel that contrasts with it most sharply. Complementary pairs are one of the oldest tricks for making colours pop, but finding the exact opposite of a given colour by eye is hard, since you have to judge the halfway point round the whole circle.
That is what this does. You pick a colour on the wheel, and it shows you the colour sitting opposite it, its complement, with the codes for both. How it works
Finding a complement comes down to the hue. Every colour has a hue given as an angle from 0 to 360 degrees around the wheel, and its complement is the colour at the angle directly opposite, half a turn away.
