What this does
This takes your text and brings every letter down to lowercase. Paste it in, click once, and the all-small version is waiting on the right to copy. It is the quickest way to calm down text that arrived in capitals, or to make a block of writing consistent without going through it letter by letter.
How to use it
- Paste your text into the box on the left.
- Press Convert, and the lowercase result appears on the right.
- Hit Copy to grab it, or Clear to empty both sides.
As with the rest of these tools, the work happens locally, so nothing you paste leaves your machine.
What it touches
The tool only lowers the letters, nothing else. Capitals become their small versions, letters that are already lowercase stay as they are, and numbers, spaces, and punctuation pass through untouched. So Invoice #42 PAID becomes invoice #42 paid, with the hash and the number left alone. Accented capitals come down too, so É becomes é while keeping its accent. The text reads the same, just in a quieter register.
When lowercase is useful
Going all lowercase solves a surprising number of small problems. It is the fastest fix for a message that came in shouty capitals. It brings consistency to text pulled together from different places, where some bits are capitalised and others are not. Things like email addresses and usernames are often expected in lowercase, so dropping the case avoids mismatches. Tags and hashtags usually sit in lowercase too. And some people simply prefer the soft, modern look of all-lowercase writing for captions and posts. Whatever the reason, it is one click away.
Questions people ask
Does it affect numbers or symbols?
No. Only letters are lowered, so digits, punctuation, and spaces come through exactly as you entered them.
Are accented letters kept?
Yes. An accented capital is brought down to its small form with the accent intact, so Ä becomes ä rather than losing the mark.
How do I go back to capitals?
This tool only lowers text. To push it the other way into capitals, use the uppercase tool.
Will it capitalise the start of sentences for me?
No, it makes everything lowercase without exception. If you want the first letter of each sentence capitalised, the case converter has a sentence case option for that.
