What this table is for
A letter grade and a GPA value are the same grade in two languages. This page is a quick reference for translating one into the other: find a letter, and read across to its GPA point value and the percentage range it usually covers.
There is nothing to calculate and nothing to type. It is a lookup, the kind of thing you glance at while filling in a form or making sense of a transcript.
How to read it
Find your letter grade in the first column of the table on this page. The second column shows the percentage range that letter usually spans, and the third shows its value on a 4.0 GPA scale. So a B reads across to roughly 83 to 86 percent and a 3.0, while an A- is about 90 to 92 percent and a 3.7.

The 4.0 scale, and why schools differ
This table uses the standard 4.0 scale, the one most US high schools and colleges use, where an A is worth 4.0. On this scale an A+ is also 4.0, since the scale caps there. That is worth a flag, because some schools use a 4.33 scale that gives an A+ a small bonus above an A.
The percentage bands shift between schools too. One school's A starts at 93, another's at 90. So use this as the common reference, and let your own school's grading scale settle anything official.

What GPA is a B?
A B is 3.0 on the 4.0 scale, which usually maps to about 83 to 86 percent. Some schools shift those bands slightly, so check yours if it is official.
Is an A+ worth more than an A?
Not on this 4.0 scale, where both an A+ and an A are 4.0. Some schools use a 4.33 scale that gives an A+ a small bonus above an A.
What is the GPA value of a C?
A C is 2.0 on the 4.0 scale, roughly 73 to 76 percent. A C+ is 2.3 and a C- is 1.7.
